Film Foto Forever

Founded in 1980, we specialize in professional photographic equipment, especially all film cameras built before 1976. Our mission is to preserve and promote the use of non-digital, fully mechanical cameras and the art of black and white film processing as well as silver halide printing.

Darkroom

Today, most hobbyist and professional photographers have a computer running a combination of Light Room and Photoshop to edit their digital pictures. During the golden age of film photography, both serious amateurs and professionals had their own darkrooms. They were in bathrooms, closets, garages and basements. While we respect the merits of digital photography and the technology behind the latest cameras, we strongly believe in the art of film photography. Film causes us to slow down, take a step back, and really think through the process of creating a great silver based image. With film, you can see the magic take place right in front of your eyes as light sensitive emulsions develop images through a chemical process. The end result is a negative you can hold in your hands, then optically print with an enlarger, to make a fine art print that you can again hold in your hand. Once photography was described as "a perfect marriage between science and art". There is nothing like film photography and we are here to promote, preserve and teach this fine art process. If you would like to learn how to develop, process and print your own black and white film, we would love to teach you. No matter what your experience level is: from just starting out, to a seasoned professional, we are here to share our knowledge. Our darkroom is ready for the highest level of professional production, capable of developing any film sizes up to 11”x14” and print sizes up to 20”x24”. Real silver images can last hundreds of years and is an art form worth learning that is also highly rewarding. If you have an interest in learning the art and science of film photography, check out our Classes section for dates, times and info on all the classes we provide. Thanks from the darkness!
